BoxByrd

Terms & Conditions

Effective August 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the BoxByrd platform and the booking of freight services. By obtaining a quote, making a booking, or using our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Definitions

  • BoxByrd, we, us – the operator of the BoxByrd platform.
  • Customer, you – the person or business making the booking.
  • Carrier – the transport company that performs the collection and delivery.
  • Consignment – the goods being transported under a booking.

2. Our Service

BoxByrd provides an online platform that allows customers to obtain instant quotes and book road freight services. We arrange for independent carriers to collect and deliver the consignment. We are not the carrier of the goods.

3. Customer Responsibilities

You must:

  • Provide accurate pickup and delivery details, contact names, phone numbers, and opening hours.
  • Ensure the goods are prepared in accordance with our Packaging & Preparation Policy.
  • Have the consignment packed, labelled, and ready for collection on the day of booking. If the freight is not ready when the Carrier arrives, a failed collection fee may apply and a new booking may be required.
  • Ensure someone is available during the stated opening hours for collection and delivery.
  • Warrant that the weight, dimensions, quantity, and description of the goods are accurate. You remain responsible for any additional charges or delays arising from incorrect information.
  • Not tender any goods that appear on our Prohibited Goods list.

4. Business Addresses & Handling Equipment (Pallets)

Pallet consignments are accepted on a business-to-business basis only.

  • A forklift (or suitable mechanical handling equipment) must be available at both the pickup and delivery addresses.
  • If the delivery address does not have a forklift available, the consignment will be returned to the nearest carrier depot.
  • The receiver must then collect the goods from the depot at their own expense.
  • BoxByrd and the Carrier accept no responsibility for storage or additional costs arising from the lack of suitable handling equipment.

5. Prohibited Goods

BoxByrd does not accept the following:

  • Any goods that cannot be safely handled as a carton, pallet, crate, IBC, or bulk bag on a pallet

We reserve the right to refuse any consignment that does not meet our standards.

6. Quotes, Pricing & Under-Declaration

  • Quotes are based on the information you provide (weight, dimensions, postcodes, item type).
  • Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight or cubic weight (L × W × H in cm ÷ 4000).
  • Prices include GST unless otherwise stated.
  • If the actual goods are significantly larger or heavier than declared, the consignment may be held until the additional freight charges are paid.
  • Delivery will not proceed until the additional payment is received.

7. Payment

  • Payment is required at the time of booking.
  • All prices are in Australian dollars.
  • Bookings are confirmed only after successful payment.

8. Collection & Delivery

  • Collection and delivery occur during normal business hours at business addresses.
  • Times are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
  • For residential addresses: if no one is available to receive the goods, the Carrier will leave a card and the goods will be taken to a local depot for collection by the receiver.
  • Residential customers cannot nominate specific delivery time windows.
  • A failed collection caused by the Customer (freight not ready, incorrect address, or no one available) may incur a fee and will require a new booking.

9. Changes, Returns & Undeliverable Freight

  • Once a consignment has been collected, it cannot be returned or redirected until it reaches a suitable processing location or depot.
  • To have goods returned after collection, you must make a new booking on BoxByrd and pay the applicable charges.
  • Undeliverable freight will be returned to a carrier depot or collection facility.
  • Redelivery can only be arranged by making a new booking and paying the applicable charges.
  • Storage fees may apply if goods are not collected from a depot within a reasonable time.

10. Liability & Insurance

  • BoxByrd arranges transport but is not the carrier of the goods.
  • Carriers typically operate under limited liability conditions (often calculated by weight). Exact limits vary by carrier.
  • BoxByrd does not provide transit insurance.
  • You are strongly advised to arrange your own transit insurance for any goods of significant value.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, BoxByrd’s liability is limited.
  • We are not liable for loss, damage, or delay arising from inadequate packaging, incorrect information, prohibited goods, or lack of suitable handling equipment at either end.

11. Claims

  • Any claim for loss or damage must be notified in writing within 7 days of delivery (or expected delivery).
  • Claims must include the booking reference, photographs, and a clear description of the issue.
  • Claims are subject to the Carrier’s terms and any applicable limitations of liability.

12. Cancellations

  • Cancellations made before the Carrier has been dispatched may be eligible for a refund (less any processing fees).
  • Once the Carrier has been allocated or is en route, cancellation fees may apply.

13. Privacy

We collect and handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. Information is used to process bookings and to communicate with you and the Carrier.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of booking applies to that consignment.

By checking the acceptance box on the booking form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Packaging & Preparation Policy.
